Presenter and Daytime Programme Controller
Presenting and co-hosting a weekly daytime radio show, focusing on current popular music. Ensuring that the radio station runs smoothly with regards the day to day broadcasting schedule, training new presenters and regularly co-ordinating and updating the broadcast schedule alongside the Heads of Music.

Writing entertainment and pop culture related news allowed me to gain experience in creating different genres of articles. Able to write content for online platforms and target core audiences. Specialising in music, film and showbiz, enabling me to look at commercial journalism targeting young people.

Researching and writing news articles. Three of my articles have been published in the daily newspaper, plus an additional article on the Birmingham Mail official website. Working with news editors and journalists in a newsroom. Being briefed on potential stories. Conducting telephone interviews. Using social media to find quotes and pictures from local residents.

News gathering and writing online articles to be published on their website. Interviewing and recording vox pops to produce audio features played on the radio. Working with professional journalists on live shows and discussing current affairs live on air. Editing audio materials and using professional software to write and produce audio materials.

News gathering and writing enabled me to gain skills in targeting audiences, effectively combining quotations and information to create original news stories and working to deadlines.

Gaining new interviewing techniques enabled me to become more confident. Being introduced to journalistic practices and thinking strategically, helping me to achieve my goals and objectives. Acting as a news editor allowed me to improve my writing and subbing ideas.
